A massive political rally swept through Cross River State on Saturday as a socio-political group, Prince Is Coming Movement, formally declared support for the second-term bids of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Bassey Otu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was unveiled at the Ikom Township Stadium, which turned into a sea of supporters drawn from across the state’s three senatorial districts in what organisers described as one of the largest political gatherings in recent times.
Event coordinators claimed that about 1.5 million supporters attended the rally, underscoring the growing momentum behind the re-election campaigns of both leaders.
The rally attracted a broad coalition of political actors, including party chieftains, captains of industry, National Assembly members, political appointees and grassroots stakeholders, all aligning behind the continuity agenda.
Leader of the movement and Chief of Staff to the governor, Emmanuel Ironbar, said the renewed mobilisation under the theme “Prince is Coming Again” reflected resilience and determination despite earlier political setbacks.
Ironbar urged supporters to sustain issue-based engagement, warning against divisive rhetoric and misinformation. He called for intensified grassroots mobilisation, including door-to-door campaigns, ahead of the 2026 primaries and the 2027 polls.
In a major highlight of the rally, Jonas Eteng Williams formally moved the motion endorsing both Tinubu and Otu for re-election, drawing loud approval from the crowd.
Williams commended the movement’s organisational strength and credited both leaders with notable strides in economic management and infrastructure renewal, pledging to galvanise support across the Central Senatorial District.
Also speaking, Soni Abang, a former state party chairman and coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Cross River, said Nigeria remains on a recovery trajectory under Tinubu’s leadership, citing ongoing infrastructure projects, improved connectivity, and efforts to stabilise the economy despite global pressures.
