The staff verification and audit exercise at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Calabar Campus has been concluded, with the exercise set to move to the institution’s Ogoja Campus on Monday.
The six-day exercise, conducted by the Technical Committee on the Review of the Working Environment in UNICROSS, covered the verification of academic and non-teaching staff, a mop-up exercise for those who missed earlier sessions, and inspection of university projects.
The exercise began on Monday, August 3, with the verification of academic staff, while the exercise for non-teaching staff commenced on Wednesday, August 5 and continued on Thursday.
On Friday, the committee conducted a mop-up verification for staff who were unable to participate on the scheduled days and inspected ongoing and completed projects across the Calabar Campus.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey, accompanied members of the committee to some of the project sites during the inspection.
The committee was constituted by the Cross River State Government to review the working environment and personnel structure of the university.
In a joint release by the committee chairman, Bishop (Prof.) U. U. Effiong, and its secretary, Dr. (Mrs.) Glory Tony Effiong, staff were directed to appear for the exercise with relevant documents.
The committee had also warned that staff who failed to participate in the verification could be recommended for suspension from the payroll pending successful verification.
The mop-up exercise continued on Saturday, August 8, to accommodate eligible staff who were unable to participate during the earlier sessions.
The committee is expected to submit its recommendations to the state government and university management at the conclusion of the exercise.
The exercise will continue at the Ogoja Campus on Monday, August 10, while staff of the Okuku Campus are scheduled for verification on Tuesday, August 11.
A final mop-up exercise and projects verification for the Ogoja and Okuku campuses are scheduled for Wednesday, August 12.
