A housewife in Taraba State has been arrested for allegedly attacking a 17-year-old girl she accused of having an affair with her husband.
The incident occurred in Donga Local Government Area, where the suspect, identified as Ramatu Abbas, reportedly inflicted injuries on the teenager, Iwasen Terhemba, during a confrontation.
According to police and eyewitness accounts, Abbas allegedly attacked the girl with a razor blade, leaving her with multiple injuries to her face.
Investigations revealed that the girl had earlier complained to her guardian that the suspect’s husband had been making advances towards her, which she rejected, citing her age and his marital status.
It was further gathered that the guardian later visited Abbas to report the alleged conduct of her husband and urged her to caution him to stay away from the minor.
However, instead of addressing the complaint with her husband, Abbas allegedly went to the girl’s residence and carried out the attack.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Taraba State Command, ASP Victor Mshelizah, said the suspect had been arrested and would be charged to court.
He added that the injured girl was taken to hospital and is currently receiving treatment.
