Presidential Bola Ahmed Tinubu had won the presidential primaries held in most states of Nigeria over the weekend and has become flag bearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for next year’s presidential election.
Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has commended members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the massive turnout during the party’s presidential affirmation exercise across the 177 wards in the state.
Oyebanji described the exercise, which returned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the APC presidential candidate, as a strong vote of confidence in the President’s leadership and a reflection of the party’s internal democracy.
The governor participated in the exercise at Ward 6, Ikogosi-Ekiti, where he said the process was peaceful, orderly and devoid of rancour.
Speaking with journalists after voting, Oyebanji said the enthusiasm displayed by party members showed unity within the APC and growing confidence in Tinubu’s leadership ahead of the 2027 general election.
He described the exercise as historic, noting that it was the first time party members directly participated in selecting the APC presidential flag bearer.
According to him, 620 out of 624 registered APC members in his ward voted in support of Tinubu’s candidacy.
“You can see the enthusiasm among party members. This is a clear demonstration of internal democracy in the APC,” the governor said.
Oyebanji also praised the party leadership for providing members the opportunity to actively participate in decision-making, describing the process as transparent and inclusive.
The governor expressed confidence that Tinubu and the APC would record victory in the 2027 presidential election, insisting that the President’s performance in office remained a major advantage for the ruling party.
