Women leaders and members of the Progressive Women Front in Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State have pledged to mobilise support for Governor Bassey Otu’s second-term bid.
The women made the commitment during an engagement with the Executive Vice Chairman of Bakassi LGA, Hon. Princess Christiana Eso, as part of her ongoing grassroots mobilisation across the local government.
The meeting, which included ward executives of the Progressive Women Front, focused on strengthening the party’s structures at the ward and polling-unit levels.
Eso urged the women to sustain their grassroots activities and ensure effective mobilisation across their respective communities.
She also called on them to remain committed to Otu’s re-election bid, urging them not to be distracted by what she described as political antics from the opposition.
Responding, the women pledged to support the governor and mobilise voters across their communities.
They cited improved peace and security in Bakassi as one of the reasons for their support, saying residents can now move freely in areas where insecurity had previously restricted movement.
The women also promised to take the mobilisation campaign to their homes and persuade members of their households to support the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the election.
The engagement formed part of Eso’s continued political mobilisation and interaction with women and grassroots structures across Bakassi LGA.
