The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State, has expelled eight students over alleged involvement in examination malpractice.
The university said the decision was approved by the institution’s Senate during its 30th Regular Meeting held on April 29, 2026.
In a statement issued Wednesday by the institution’s Information, Public Relations and Protocol Unit, the university said the affected students were found guilty of misconduct during the first semester examinations for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to a letter signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Mr. Eli Gbadufu, the students were investigated by the Examination Misconduct Committee before the Senate ratified their expulsion.
The statement noted that the disciplinary action was taken in line with the university’s academic regulations as contained in the Student Handbook, particularly Page 33, Item 19.
Three of the expelled students were from the Department of Library and Information Science, including one in 400 level, while the others were drawn from the Departments of Economics, Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration and Agricultural Science.
The university management reiterated its zero tolerance for examination malpractice and warned students against engaging in any act capable of undermining academic integrity.
It urged students to adhere strictly to the institution’s rules and regulations, stressing that anyone found guilty of examination misconduct would face severe disciplinary measures, including expulsion.
