Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders and supporters in Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State have reaffirmed their commitment to grassroots mobilisation and strengthening the party’s structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The stakeholders spoke during a reception organised for the party’s Cross River State Financial Secretary, Comrade Chris Edadi, at Umolor Community in Erei North Ward, Biase LGA, on Friday.
Edadi had visited the area to attend the burial ceremony of the late Prof. Patrick Owai at Ipene Community, after which former councillor representing Erei North Ward, Onun Raphael Egwu, led him and members of his entourage to his residence in Umolor for the reception.
The gathering attracted PDP members, community leaders, youths, women and other stakeholders from the Erei axis.
Speaking at the event, Egwu said the gathering was an opportunity for party members to interact, strengthen their bonds and reaffirm their commitment to the PDP.
The party’s state financial secretary has in recent times engaged with communities and party members across the state as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots structures and mobilise support for the party.
The stakeholders said sustained engagement with communities would be crucial as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 elections.
Supporters at the event also expressed optimism that the PDP could regain political influence in Cross River State through stronger organisation and effective grassroots mobilisation.
The gathering in Erei North came amid ongoing consultations by PDP aspirants and stakeholders across the Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency and other parts of the state.
Party members, however, stressed the need for unity, sustained engagement and stronger coordination among the various levels of the party ahead of the next electoral cycle.
This version keeps the PDP mobilisation angle but avoids presenting partisan projections or campaign claims as established facts.
