3rd Phase Of Voter Registration Exercise To Hold Soon – REC

THE independent National Electoral Commission’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Cross River State, Prof. George O. Yomere has disclosed that they will soon embark on the third phase of voters registration in Cross River State.

He disclosed this on Thursday when he paid courtesy visit to the state police commissioner, Rashid Afegbua in his office in Calabar.

He noted that the exercise was still ongoing but that the third phase will be intensive across the state

Prof. George called for sustained collaboration and strengthened security arrangements by the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies ahead of the forthcoming elections.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process in the interest of democracy and public confidence.

The REC, accompanied by members of his team, stated that the visit was aimed at familiarizing himself with the Command following his recent posting to Cross River State.

Welcoming the REC, the Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to continued collaboration with the INEC and other relevant stakeholders towards ensuring adequate security before, during, and after the elections.

The CP further assured the REC of the Command’s operational readiness and dedication to providing a safe, secure, and conducive environment that will enable residents of the state to participate freely in all electoral activities without fear, intimidation, or harassment.
