Professor Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe has emerged as the new National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party following the party’s 2026 National Convention held in Bauchi State.
The new leadership of the party was unveiled on Saturday at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, during the convention attended by delegates and party stakeholders from across the country.
Also elected into the National Working Committee was Olu Agunloye, who emerged as the party’s National Secretary.
Other members of the newly constituted National Working Committee include Ugochukwu Uba as Deputy National Chairman (South), Mariam Maggie Batube as National Treasurer, and Joseph Achille Abu as National Organising Secretary.
The party also elected Araba Rufus Aiyenigha as National Publicity Secretary, while Aderemi Ahimbela emerged as National Legal Adviser.
Others elected include Bello Ado Hussaini as National Financial Secretary, Sa’adatu Abdullahi as National Woman Leader, and Daniel Ibe as National Youth Leader.
Also announced were Rosemary A. Effiong and Lekan Alabi as Leader of Persons with Disabilities.
Party officials said the new leadership would steer the affairs of the SDP ahead of future electoral activities and strengthen the party’s national structure.
