A group called Grassroots Initiative for Governor Bassey Otu and Dr Peter Odey has vowed to sustain their ongoing sensitisation and campaign to rally support for both to return to office next year.

Director general of the group, Awade Friday going by the unity, resilience and the feats both have made in the first term, it was fitting to rally supports for both and the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC, to return power.

Friday presented their position at a media conference at NUJ Press Centre Calabar, reeling out the governance feats and impacts Otu’s administration has achieved.

“In the moment or in the months ahead, our initiative will continue community engagement, sensitization campaigns, town hall dialogues, and outreach that ensures every voice contributes to shaping our shared future. ”

He said they will partner discuss and consult with opposition parties, in case they will have any candidate to forego the idea and rather support Otu for 2027.

He called the youths and women of the State to participate in the campaign to return Otu and his deputy.

He said their influence is profound and indispensable, emphasising that they are the true heroes of protecting the votes.

Their call he said is an affirmation of democratic maturity and an opportunity to build enduring unity, stressing that there was really nothing to oppose in the state.

Friday stated that their call for consensus on Otu and Deputy is a farsighted strategy for stability, growth, and collective prosperity.

“This movement seeks to unite our people, sensitize citizens at every grassroots level and build consensus around leadership that has shown competent stewardship of the states.”
