The Kebbi State Police Command has rescued two kidnap victims and arrested one suspect during separate operations in Kalgo and Dandi Local Government Areas of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, describing the operations as intelligence-driven and proactive.
According to him, a 55-year-old man, Alhaji Juli Muhammad, was abducted by suspected bandits from his residence in Kokani Village, Kalgo Local Government Area, where he was reportedly tied with chains and taken into the bush.
In a similar incident, another victim, Garba Bachal, aged 50, was kidnapped at Maigwaza Village in Dandi Local Government Area.
SP Usman said that acting on credible intelligence, operatives from the Kalgo and Kamba Divisions, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, swiftly mobilised to the affected areas.
The operation led to the safe rescue of the victims and the arrest of one suspect identified as Umar Usman from the Augie Fadama area of the state.
He explained that other members of the gang fled upon sighting the police, enabling officers to secure the victims without harm.
One of the rescued victims was subsequently taken to Maigwaza Hospital for medical attention and is currently recovering.
The police spokesman assured that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects, adding that the operation underscores the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property through rapid response and strategic coordination.
