The Christ Universal Children’s Fellowship International (CUCFI) has called on the Nigerian government to enact and implement policies that promote the welfare and development of children.
The appeal was made by the International President of the faith-based organisation, Matriarch Christ Shepherd Kay Ofo, during the 2026 Children’s Day celebration in Nigeria.
CUCFI is an arm of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star.
In a statement, the London-based cleric urged governments and leaders across the world to prioritise policies that would guarantee quality education, healthcare, safety and the overall wellbeing of children.
“Every society that protects its children secures its future,” she stated.
Matriarch Ofo also advised children to remain focused, disciplined and prayerful, while avoiding immorality, drug abuse and other destructive habits.
“As Nigeria marks the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, I extend warm greetings and blessings to children in Nigeria and across the world,” she said.
“Today gives us another opportunity to appreciate the gift and value of children in our families and society.
“As we celebrate this year’s Children’s Day, I warmly encourage our children to remain focused, disciplined and prayerful.
“Be respectful to your parents, teachers and elders. Take your education seriously and keep good company at all times. Avoid immorality, drug abuse, violence and every habit capable of destroying your future.”
The child rights advocate further urged parents and guardians to provide proper care, sound moral upbringing and guidance for their children, noting that children thrive better in homes where love, discipline and godly examples are upheld.
She also expressed concern over the recent kidnap of schoolchildren in Oyo State, lamenting reports that many of the victims were still being held captive days after the incident.
Ofo prayed for their safety and speedy rescue, while asking God to continue to preserve, guide and bless children to live purposeful lives filled with peace, wisdom and fulfilment.
