The Nasarawa State Police Command has foiled a planned kidnap and arrested three suspects over a ₦5 million ransom threat targeting an agro-businesswoman and her children in Karu Local Government Area.
Police spokesman, Ramhan Nansel, said the case was reported to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on April 31, 2026, after unknown persons issued threats to abduct the victims if the demand was not met.
Following the report, Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohamed, ordered a swift, full-scale investigation to avert the attack.
Nansel said an intelligence-led operation led to the arrest of two suspects—Prince Eze, 19, and Marwan Salihu, 18—both from Agada Village in Karu LGA.
Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Hassan Mathew Yerima of Keffi, identified as the coordinator assigned to collect the ransom on behalf of the syndicate.
The police said the suspects are in custody and assisting ongoing investigations, while efforts continue to apprehend other members of the network.
Mohamed reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
