No fewer than 11 persons have been killed and several houses razed in a fresh communal clash in Udege Development Area of Nasarawa Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.

The violence, which rocked Akyawa and Udege Kasa communities on April 3, 2026, has thrown the area into mourning, with survivors counting losses in lives and property.

Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has since visited the affected communities, ordering a full-scale probe into the incident.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement issued in Lafia, describing the attack as a suspected reprisal over the alleged killing of two persons.

“In response, the Commissioner of Police has ordered an intensive manhunt for the perpetrators, directing tactical and investigative units to ensure their swift arrest and prosecution,” the statement said.

The police boss also ordered immediate reinforcement of security in the area, deploying additional personnel in collaboration with the Military and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

According to the Command, the move is aimed at restoring calm and preventing a further breakdown of law and order.

During his visit, the CP convened a stakeholders’ meeting, urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies to forestall further violence.

The Command added that normalcy has been largely restored, with proactive security measures in place to sustain peace in the troubled communities.
