The Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, on Saturday presided over a grand turbaning ceremony installing three new district heads, including the son of the state governor, at the Emir’s Palace.
The colourful event attracted a large turnout of political leaders, traditional rulers and dignitaries from across Nigeria and neighbouring Niger Republic.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda attended alongside his Kano State counterpart, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and other top government officials. The Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasir Yahaya Daura, was also in attendance.
The Kauran Katsina and District Head of Rimi, Alhaji Nuhu Aminu Abdulkadir, presented the appointees before the Emir performed the traditional rites.
Among those turbaned was Alhaji Muhammadu Dikko Radda, son of the governor, who was installed as Gwagwaren Katsina II and District Head of Radda.
Others include Alhaji Ahmad Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, now Danmajen Katsina and District Head of Dankama, and Alhaji Abubakar Dardisu, who assumed the title of Sarkin Mudurun Katsina and District Head of Muduru.
In his remarks, the Emir described the ceremony as unprecedented, noting it recorded the largest turnout of his reign. He commended guests for their orderly conduct.
He urged the people to embrace unity, peace and mutual respect, stressing the need for strong moral values and discipline in building a stable society.
The monarch also called on traditional and religious leaders to deepen efforts at promoting social cohesion, while emphasising care for the less privileged.
