Obong of Calabar Inducts Retired Justice Archibong into Etubom Traditional Council

The Obong of Calabar, His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi-Otu V, has capped and inducted retired Justice Charles Archibong into the Etubom Traditional Council of the Efik Kingdom as the Etubom of the Effanga Offiong Royal House.
The colourful ceremony, held at the Effanga Nsa Palace of the Obong of Calabar, drew prominent Efik sons and daughters, traditional rulers, political leaders and other dignitaries from within and outside Cross River State.
Performing the induction, Edidem Abasi-Otu V charged the newly installed Etubom to lead the Effanga Offiong Royal House with the fear of God, emphasizing the virtues of unity, integrity and selfless service to the Efik nation.
The monarch urged Justice Archibong to uphold the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Efik people while fostering peace, harmony and progress within the royal house and the wider community.
Responding, Etubom Archibong expressed profound appreciation to the Obong of Calabar for the honour bestowed on him. He also thanked members of the Etubom Traditional Council, the Otuekongs and advisers for preserving his royal house’s seat in the council.
“I also express gratitude to the Etuboms, Otuekongs and Advisers for keeping my Royal House’s seat in the Council for us,” he said. Justice Archibong succeeds the late Etubom Inyang George Duke Henshaw.
Several prominent Efik leaders at the ceremony described his induction as a deserving recognition of his distinguished career, integrity and contributions to the development of society.
Speaking with journalists, the Special Adviser to Governor Bassey Otu on Chieftaincy Affairs, Otuekong Sir Francis Edet, expressed confidence in the new Etubom’s ability to provide purposeful leadership for the Effanga Offiong Royal House and contribute significantly to the continued growth, stability and prestige of the Efik traditional institution.
