The National Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Alhaji Ibrahim Mogaji Olaniyan, has reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to strengthening police-community partnership to improve security, crime prevention and public safety across Cross River State and the country.
Olaniyan gave the assurance on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Acting Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, DCP Godwin Etim Effiong, at the State Police Command Headquarters in Calabar.
He said the PCRC would continue to support the Nigeria Police Force through sustained community engagement, public enlightenment campaigns and other initiatives aimed at promoting effective policing.
The PCRC chairman also highlighted the committee’s proposed Safe Schools Initiative, which is designed to raise awareness against violence in schools and create a safer learning environment for students.
Olaniyan further informed the command of the successful conduct of the Zone 6 and Cross River State PCRC Executive Elections held at the Zone 6 Headquarters in Calabar, noting that new executives had emerged to steer the affairs of the committee for the next four years.
Responding, the Acting Commissioner of Police commended the PCRC for its consistent support to the command, describing the committee as a critical partner in maintaining peace and security in the state.
Effiong stressed the need for sustained collaboration between the police, the PCRC and other stakeholders to deepen community policing and enhance public confidence in law enforcement.
He also congratulated the newly elected Zone 6 and Cross River State PCRC executives, expressing confidence that they would build on the committee’s achievements and contribute meaningfully to security and community development.
The Cross River State Police Command reiterated its commitment to strengthening partnerships with the PCRC and other stakeholders as part of efforts to ensure safer communities and more effective policing across the state.
