A Notary Public and Director-General of Good Governance Advocacy International (GGAI), Sir Leonard Anyogo, has taken his campaign against drug abuse to his home community of Alifokpa in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Anyogo and his team embarked on the advocacy campaign at the weekend when community stakeholders gathered at his Anyogo’s Resort residence in Alifokpa.
Addressing the gathering, the lawyer urged residents to sustain the fight against drug abuse, warning that the menace could have devastating consequences for individuals, families and the wider community.
He also encouraged the people to participate actively in the forthcoming electoral process, remain security-conscious and support legitimate government initiatives aimed at promoting development.
As part of the engagement, Anyogo also held discussions with the Parish Priest of Mater Ecclesiae Parish, Alifokpa-Yache, Rev. Fr. Raphael Mose.
He described the meeting as fruitful, saying the discussions focused on the fight against drug abuse, peace and community development.
Anyogo said the advocacy would be extended to other communities within the ward and Yala Local Government Area as part of efforts to promote peace, security and sustainable development.
Reacting to the initiative, members of the Alifokpa community expressed appreciation for Anyogo’s continued advocacy and his efforts to foster a sense of belonging among the people.
They, however, used the opportunity to appeal to the government to expedite action on the construction of the Akreha Bridge and the Alifokpa road, describing both projects as critical to the development and connectivity of the community.
