A suspected kidnapper has been neutralised during a security operation in Jemaa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The operation was carried out on January 2, 2026, by troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP).

According to a statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer of JTF OPEP, Captain Joshua Atu John, the troops raided kidnappers’ hideouts in Jagindi Kagom village following credible intelligence.

He said the action formed part of ongoing offensive operations under Operation Peace Shield aimed at dismantling criminal networks across the area.

Captain John explained that troops from Sector 7 launched a clearance operation and encountered the suspects, leading to a gun battle.

“One suspected kidnapper, identified as Dahiru Adamu Barka, was neutralised during the engagement, while other members of the gang fled the scene,” the statement said.

He added that troops are currently pursuing the fleeing suspects to ensure their arrest and prosecution.

The General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of JTF Operation Enduring Peace, Major General E.F. Oyinlola, commended the troops for their professionalism and success.

Major General Oyinlola also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to rid communities of criminal elements.
