The Nasarawa State Police Command has foiled a suspected kidnapping operation, arresting a key suspect and recovering firearms at Gidan Akuya Village in Keana Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the arrest followed actionable intelligence gathered by the command. According to him, the suspect, 43-year-old Jibrin Yunusa, attempted to flee upon sighting the operatives but was promptly apprehended.
“Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID) successfully located the hideout of a notorious kidnapper,” Nansel said. “During the operation, one AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine, and a locally fabricated rifle were recovered.”
The suspect, during interrogation, reportedly confessed to involvement in multiple kidnapping incidents across the Keana–Awe axis and provided information to aid ongoing investigations.
The State Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has directed officers to intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing gang members, vowing that justice will be served. He commended the operatives for their professionalism and assured residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Nasarawa State.
