The revered spiritual leader of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS), His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, is set to build another worship centre in Abuja to accommodate the growing number of adherents.
The 8,000-square-metre site in the Jahi District of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was inspected on Sunday, 8 February 2026, by a team of emissaries acting on behalf of the spiritual leader.
The delegation was led by Patriarch Christ Shepherd Innocent Omini and included senior officials of the organization in Abuja, among them Brigadier General Enang Essien (rtd), former APC Secretary in Cross River State Victor Ebong, Archbishop Utibe Willie, Her Eminence Victoria Victor, Regional Administrator of BCS in North East Nigeria, amongst others.
Officials said the new site is earmarked to serve as the BCS headquarters in FCT, complementing other state-of-the-art cathedrals in Mpape, Karu, and other select locations across Abuja.
Sources noted that the organization previously lost a cathedral in the Wuse area during the tenure of former FCT Minister, el-Rufai.
In a statement issued by the publicity and branding committee for the upcoming 25th anniversary of Olumba Obu’s coronation as “King of Kings and Lord of Lords,” the inspection was described as a “historic and spiritually significant moment for the children of God in the Federal Capital Territory.”
The statement said, “During the sacred visitation, the Holy Father set His divine feet upon the land where the brethren in Abuja propose to erect a magnificent cathedral to the glory of God.”
The project, referred to as a ‘monumental cathedral’, is expected to stand as a beacon of faith, unity, and worship, serving as the official BCS State Headquarters in the FCT.
BCS officials highlighted that the development will further showcase the leadership and visionary contributions of His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, whom they describe as the Universal Monarch.
The organization expressed optimism that the new edifice will meet the spiritual needs of adherents and solidify BCS’s presence in the nation’s capital.
They also emphasized that the project aligns with the broader mission of the Brotherhood to create spaces that foster faith, community, and worship.
Construction plans and timelines for the cathedral are expected to be unveiled as the organization approaches the weeklong 25th coronation anniversary celebrations holding from 13th to 19th April 2026 in Calabar Nigeria.
