Sexual Exploitation: NAPTIP Hails Court as Three Men Get Six Years Jail

By BANNERNEWS Reporter

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has commended the Federal High Court in Kano for convicting three men for procuring minors for sexual exploitation.

NAPTIP’s Kano Zonal Command described the convictions as a major boost to ongoing efforts to curb human trafficking and related abuses in the state.

The convicts were sentenced on Thursday by Justice S.M. Shuaibu, who handed down six years’ imprisonment each without an option of fine.

One of the convicts, Jibrin Adamu, 67, of Hotoro Danmarke in Kano, was found guilty of procuring an 11-year-old girl from Walawai Hotoro in Nassarawa Local Government Area in August 2025 and subjecting her to sexual exploitation.

Adamu was convicted under Section 16(1) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.

In a related judgment, the court also convicted Kanta Muhammadu, 65, and Ishaya Hassan, 40, for procuring persons for sexual exploitation.

NAPTIP told the court that the offences committed by the convicts were contrary to and punishable under Section 16(1) of the Act.

Both Muhammadu and Hassan were arraigned, tried, and sentenced on the same day under charge numbers FHC/KN/CR/310/2025 and FHC/KN/CR/309/2025 respectively.

NAPTIP reiterated its commitment to pursuing traffickers and urged the public to continue to report cases of human trafficking and exploitation to the agency.
