Yusuf Buhari Eyes House of Representatives Seat to Sustain Father’s Legacy

Yusuf Buhari, son of Nigeria’s late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives, saying he wants to sustain his father’s legacy of service and patriotism.
Yusuf said his decision followed repeated calls from his constituents, who urged him to seek representation for Daura, Mai’adua and Sandamu Federal Constituency in Katsina State.
Speaking in Daura after a stakeholders’ meeting with members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he said his ambition was driven by a desire to build on the developmental strides and commitment to public service associated with his late father.
He noted that he grew up witnessing Muhammadu Buhari’s dedication to Nigeria, from his years in the military to his time as civilian president and until his passing.
According to him, returning home to seek the people’s mandate was a deliberate step to remain close to the grassroots and better understand the needs of the constituency.
Yusuf said youth development would be his major priority if elected, stressing that empowering young people remains key to meaningful progress.
“Youths are the backbone of every meaningful development. I will focus on their development to address several issues,” he said.
He admitted that he once ruled out joining politics, but said circumstances and destiny had changed his perspective, leading him to answer what he described as a call to serve.
While acknowledging that matching the popularity and goodwill enjoyed by his late father may be difficult, Yusuf pledged to work hard, meet expectations and serve his people diligently.
