Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued 11 passengers following a kidnapping attempt along the Kabba-Ayere Road in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The Army said nine victims, including the driver, were rescued on Sunday, October 18, while two others who fled into the bush during the attack were found on Monday, October 19.
The Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement issued in Lokoja on Monday.
He said troops responded to intelligence about an attempted abduction involving a commercial vehicle and engaged the suspected kidnappers, forcing them to flee.
Three victims, including the driver, sustained injuries and were evacuated for medical attention.

Earlier, the Kogi State Police Command confirmed the incident, saying armed men dressed in military uniforms intercepted a commercial Toyota bus travelling from Abuja to Akure, Ondo State, at about 8 p.m. on Sunday.
The police spokesperson, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, said security personnel at a nearby checkpoint responded to a distress call and rescued nine occupants at the scene.
The Army urged residents to provide credible information to security agencies to support efforts to combat kidnapping and other security threats in the state.
