APC Convention: NUJ Hails Akak, As Mutfwang Backs Nentawe for 2027 Victory

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Cross River State Council, has congratulated Engr. Ben Akak on his emergence as Deputy National Treasurer of the All Progressives Congress (APC). This is even as Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, declared that the party’s new national leadership signals victory in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Archibong Bassey, the NUJ described Akak’s emergence at the party’s just concluded convention as a proud moment for Cross River State, citing his loyalty, hard work, and commitment to party ideals.

The council noted that Akak’s political stance has consistently aligned with the interests of Cross River State and the broader Nigerian project, earning him widespread respect among stakeholders.

It expressed confidence that he would deploy his experience, integrity, and dedication to strengthen the APC in his new national assignment.

Meanwhile, Governor Mutfwang has described the election of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe as APC National Chairman as a clear indication of the party’s preparedness for electoral victory in 2027.

Mutfwang said Nentawe’s emergence through consensus at the Abuja convention reflects the party’s commitment to inclusive and people-oriented leadership under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He commended party leaders and stakeholders for fostering unity, tolerance, and internal reforms, noting that such efforts have strengthened cohesion and created a level playing field within the party.

The governor expressed confidence in Nentawe’s leadership capacity, highlighting his background in digital transformation, energy research, ICT, and his previous role as a Resident Electoral Commissioner.

Mutfwang also appreciated key national figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, alongside other stakeholders, for zoning the national chairmanship to the North Central region.

He assured that Plateau State possesses capable leaders and expressed optimism that Nentawe would promote unity and reposition the party for sustained growth and electoral success.

Mutfwang, who joined the APC earlier this year after defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had contested against Nentawe in the 2023 Plateau governorship election.

He prayed for wisdom, strength, and good health for the new chairman as he assumes office, expressing hope that his leadership would steer the party to greater heights and victory in 2027.
