The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, has strengthened the Command’s security partnership with Homeland Security, Cross River State South, as part of efforts to tackle crime and improve public safety across the state.
The development followed a courtesy visit by the Director-General of Homeland Security, Cross River State South, Chief Michael Nsan, who led a delegation to the Commissioner’s office on Wednesday.
Receiving the delegation, CP Ajo described Homeland Security as a critical stakeholder in the state’s security architecture, stressing that the increasing sophistication of criminal activities required stronger cooperation among security stakeholders.
The Commissioner said intelligence sharing, information exchange, community engagement and coordinated operational support were essential to anticipating, disrupting and preventing criminal activities.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to a multi-stakeholder approach to security, noting that sustainable public safety could not be achieved through isolated efforts.
According to him, the Police Command would continue to strengthen partnerships with relevant security stakeholders and harness their local knowledge and operational capabilities to protect lives and property across Cross River.
The Commissioner assured Homeland Security of the Command’s readiness to deepen collaboration and support coordinated efforts aimed at addressing security threats in the state.
Responding, Nsan expressed appreciation to the Commissioner and pledged the readiness of Homeland Security to work closely with the Nigeria Police Force in tackling security challenges.
The meeting culminated in a commitment by both organisations to strengthen inter-agency cooperation, improve intelligence-led operations and build a more integrated security network for a safer Cross River State
