Graduating participants of the Naval War College Nigeria, Calabar, have visited a children welfare home in the city, donating assorted food items to the children.
The participants of Naval Warfare Course 10 from different countries made the donation weekend, as part of activities marking their graduation.
The group visited Mother Elizabeth Redeemed Home of Love, with children numbering close to 80 children in the Parliamentary Road area of Calabar.
The visit was led by Group Captain Ikira, who represented the Commandant of the college, Rear Admiral Mohammed Muye.
The college said the gesture was part of its corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at showing compassion and supporting less privileged members of society.
They donated several bags of rice and other edibles, disinfectants and beverage.
Receiving the delegation, the Managing Director of the home, Sister Anna Freda Odudu-Charles from The Gambia, thanked the college for the gesture and prayed for God’s protection and success for the graduating officers in their future endeavours.
She disclosed that the home is an arm of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star.
Showing gratitude for their visits and donation, the children sang and prayed for the military personnel.
The Course President, Navy Captain M.N. Chiedu, also delivered a keynote address on behalf of the college.
Naval Warfare Course 10 commenced in January 2026 and is designed to prepare senior officers for operational command responsibilities.
The course is the college’s main training programme and runs annually from January to September for senior naval officers and equivalent officers from sister services and allied nations.
MWOMTD Ewa Emmanuel Joseph, one of the officers, said the officers were happy that the massive home has several other non-Nigerian children.
