NPC Chairman Disowns Fraudulent Phone Lines, Warns Public Against Scammers

By BANNERNEWS Reporter

The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Aminu Yusuf, has disowned two phone numbers fraudulently registered in his name and allegedly being used by scammers to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

In a notice issued on February 28, 2026, the Commission said the numbers — 08060397913 and 08068307051 — were falsely linked to the NPC Chairman by unscrupulous individuals with malicious intent.

According to the statement, the perpetrators have reportedly been using the fake lines to solicit contracts, make fraudulent requests, and carry out other criminal activities while impersonating Dr. Yusuf.

The Commission strongly advised the general public, friends, associates, and stakeholders to disregard any calls, messages, or correspondence purportedly originating from the Chairman through the listed numbers, stressing that they have no connection whatsoever to him or the NPC.

It urged Nigerians to exercise caution and promptly report any suspicious communication or suspected fraudulent activity to relevant security agencies for immediate action.

The NPC disclosed that steps have already been taken to report, trace, and block the fraudulent lines, while investigations are ongoing to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those behind the impersonation.

Dr. Yusuf reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, integrity, and professionalism in the discharge of his duties, while calling on Nigerians to remain vigilant against cyber impersonation and related scam activities.

The statement was signed by Stanley Onyeka Nwosu, Special Assistant on Media to the NPC Chairman.
