Police Raid Criminal Hideouts, Arrest 147 Suspects, Recover Arms in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 147 suspected criminals and recovered a cache of weapons during coordinated raids on criminal hideouts in the Super Ile-Epo axis and other black spots under its ongoing Operation KO S’AYE III.
The early morning operation, conducted around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, followed credible intelligence and repeated complaints from residents over the activities of hoodlums who allegedly terrorised motorists, commuters and pedestrians, especially at night.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, told journalists on Monday that operatives drawn from various formations of the command simultaneously stormed criminal hideouts at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo and other identified locations to flush out suspected criminals and restore public confidence.
She said 147 suspects were arrested during the operation, while a cache of weapons and other items believed to have been used in criminal activities was recovered.
Items recovered include 250 expended cartridge shells, two live cartridges, 22 machetes, five battle axes, two knives, a pair of scissors, a lighter, assorted charms and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
According to Adebisi, the operation is part of the Command’s sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks, deny hoodlums safe havens and strengthen security across Lagos State.
She added that all the suspects are in police custody undergoing screening to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities, noting that those found culpable would be charged to court.
Commending the operatives, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, praised their professionalism and reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to sustain Operation KO S’AYE III in all parts of the state.
The police commissioner also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information on suspicious activities and criminal hideouts, stressing that public cooperation remains crucial to protecting lives and property across Lagos State.
