The spiritual leader of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, has appointed an American, Michael Glynn, alongside a Liberian, Ghanaian and Cameroonian, as part of 24 Elders in what the organisation described as a fulfilment of scripture.
The appointments were announced in Calabar during preliminary activities marking the 25th anniversary of Olumba Obu’s physical coronation as King of kings and Lord of lords.
Other foreign appointees include a Liberian technocrat, Archbishop Thomas Momoh Pujeh, Ghanaian clergyman George Anamuah and Cameroonian clergyman, Ebanda Stephanie, while the remaining members are drawn from Nigerian clergy, professionals and academia.
The elders were inaugurated at the organization’s world headquarters in Calabar amid a large turnout of adherents from across several countries.
The ceremony formed part of a weeklong programme lined up to mark the silver jubilee celebration, expected to climax on Sunday 19th April 2026 at the UJ Esuene Stadium Calabar.
Ahead of the inauguration, the elders visited Biakpan in Biase Local Government Area, Obu’s birthplace, where they observed a day-and-night spiritual retreat, including a symbolic dip in a nearby stream.
At the ceremony, Obu crowned the elders, who bowed and chanted a passage from the Book of Revelation, declaring: “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power…”
An official of the organisation, Innocent Omini, said Olumba Obu is the Universal Monarch, adding that his adherents as well as the Elders come from all countries.
He said the exercise was rooted in Revelation 4:10–11, which describes the 24 elders falling before God in worship.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Patriarch Bassey Imowo charged the elders to embrace humility and service, noting the spiritual weight of their calling.
Addressing the gathering, the spiritual leader said the inauguration signified peace and blessings for humanity, urging global leaders to embrace forgiveness and unity.
