A 37-year-old man, named Ndifreke Godwin had been arrested in Calabar for allegedly raping an eight year old girl.
The suspect, a security guard, allegedly lured the minor into his apartment under the pretext of giving her money, and reportedly sexually assaulted her.
PPRO ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata confirmed the incident in his statement of Sunday 30 August, saying the incident was reported to the Police on 29 August 2026 by the victim’s mother.
Akata said the suspect was promptly arrested, disclosing that the victim has been issued a medical form for necessary medical examination and treatment.
He further disclosed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet and comprehensive investigation.
“The Command assures the public that the suspect will be accorded due process and that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.”
