The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has appointed former Governor Ben Ayade, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa and Archbishop Emmah Gospel Isong to its State Campaign Council Advisory Council ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Others appointed include Etubom Anthony Ani and Nelly Andem Ewa, SAN, alongside other prominent personalities drawn from across the state.
Isong is the president of the Semakemek Support Organization, chief executive officer of Remedy for Victims of Religious Persecution and Discrimination, and National Vice President (South-South) of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).
The cleric was also associated with Governor Bassey Otu’s emergence in the 2023 governorship election.
Reacting to his appointment, Isong commended Otu and his team for what he described as their recognition of Jesus Christ as the governor of Cross River State and for looking beyond ethnic and political considerations in selecting members of the advisory council.
He said he did not bargain for the appointment, adding that advising successive administrations was not new to him.
Isong urged other political parties to emulate Otu by shunning what he described as the politics of bitterness, thuggery and nepotism.
