Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has urged indigenes of the state residing in Cross River State to continue to live peacefully and contribute meaningfully to the development of their host state.
The governor made the call on Sunday when he attended a church service at Liberty Church in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
Eno encouraged Akwa Ibom people living in Cross River to remain law-abiding and supportive of initiatives aimed at promoting growth and development in the state.
He noted that despite occasional legal disagreements between the two neighbouring states, the long-standing bond between Akwa Ibom and Cross River remains strong.
The governor stressed that both states share deep historical, cultural and social ties that make them natural partners in regional development.
In a message posted on his verified social media page after the service, Eno described the worship experience as uplifting and spiritually enriching.
“I worshipped today with brethren in Calabar during a special Sunday service. It was a wonderful time in God’s presence, and I was encouraged by the message and the warm fellowship of the congregation,” he wrote.
“I also reminded our people that Akwa Ibom and Cross River will always remain brothers, and encouraged Akwa Ibom indigenes living in Cross River to continue to live in peace and support the development of their host state.”
The governor also prayed for continued peace, unity and progress for both states, the wider region and the country.
