The Zamfara State Police Command has recorded fresh gains in its ongoing operations against banditry, rescuing abducted victims and arresting suspects in separate incidents.
Police spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said armed bandits raided the residence of Mamuda Buhari, a staff member of the SLT Department at the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, abducting him alongside three of his children on the outskirts of the town.
He said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), working with local vigilante groups, quickly mobilised and trailed the assailants by tracking their footprints, leading to the rescue of the three children.
The rescued victims have since been reunited with their family, while efforts continue to secure the release of the remaining victim.
In a related operation, police tactical teams on patrol in Mada District of Gusau Local Government Area came under attack from suspected bandits on a motorcycle.
According to the Command, operatives responded decisively, arresting two suspects, while others fled with gunshot wounds.
The Command said it has intensified efforts to track down the fleeing suspects and dismantle criminal networks operating across the state.
It also urged residents to support security agencies with timely and credible information to strengthen the fight against crime.
