After 16 Deaths, Kano Govt Pledges Justice, Support for Families

The Kano State Government has called for patience from families affected by the recent tragic incident, assuring them of its commitment to justice and adequate support for victims.
Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Waiya, made the appeal while addressing concerns over the handling of the situation, stressing that both Kano and Edo State governments were working collaboratively to ensure a fair outcome.
He described the development as a “national calamity,” noting that the scale of the tragedy had deeply affected not only the victims’ families but the country at large.
Waiya extended the government’s condolences to the bereaved families, offering prayers for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the incident.
The commissioner disclosed that a high-level committee earlier constituted by the Kano State Government had already taken steps to address the matter.
He said the committee, led by the Deputy Governor, had engaged relevant authorities in Edo State to ensure proper handling of all aspects of the case.
According to him, the engagement was aimed at guaranteeing justice for the victims while also ensuring that necessary support mechanisms were put in place for affected families.
Waiya reiterated the state government’s resolve to stand firmly with the victims, promising continued intervention and follow-up actions as the situation unfolds.
He assured that Kano State would maintain solidarity with the families during this difficult period, while pursuing all necessary measures to bring closure and relief to those affected.
