The Cross River State High Court sitting in Calabar has delivered judgment in a long-standing land dispute over a property located at Ikot Effanga Mkpa Community in Calabar Municipality.
In the ruling delivered on April 27, 2026, Hon. Justice Elias Abua of High Court 5, Calabar, in Suit No. HC/C/733/2024, affirmed ownership of the disputed land in favour of His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu.
The court held that the defendants—Archbishop Chris Acho Agbor, Bishop Okon Effiong, and Archbishop Moses Olumba—successfully proved title to the property on behalf of His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, thereby resolving competing claims over the land.

The suit was originally instituted by Victor Eyo Emeh and had involved both civil and criminal proceedings arising from the ownership tussle over the strategically located property near the 8 Miles axis of Calabar.
The disputed land, measuring about 3,537.090 square metres, was clearly delineated and described in a survey plan presented before the court during the proceedings.
Reacting to the judgment, Justice Osai Ahiakwo described the outcome as a major victory, attributing it to what he termed “divine intervention” following recent religious celebrations marking a silver jubilee coronation anniversary.
He also commended Hon. Justice Abua for what he described as a commitment to justice, equity, and fairness in the handling of the matter.
The judgment is expected to bring closure to the protracted dispute, which had generated sustained litigation and tension over ownership of the property for several years.
