The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has inaugurated a 30-member campaign committee, tagged “Cross River Arise for Prince Otu/Peter Odey,” ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group, inaugurated at the Ascot Event Centre in Calabar, is expected to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu and Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, across the state.

The inauguration attracted APC stakeholders and supporters from the 18 local government areas of the state.

The Director-General of the support group and Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Chief Felix Idem, said the initiative was aimed at expanding the party’s grassroots base and recruiting more members across polling units, wards and workplaces.

Idem charged members of the group to focus on winning their respective polling units and taking the policies and programmes of the Tinubu and Otu administrations to the grassroots.

“You are powerful in your polling unit. If you are powerful, win your polling unit. Win all, not some,” he said.

He added that political relevance would be determined by performance at the polling-unit level rather than titles, assuring the group of the party leadership’s support if it remained committed to door-to-door mobilisation and grassroots engagement.

Also speaking, the APC Chairman in Cross River State, Chris Etta, commended Tinubu over what he described as the President’s interventions in the state’s oil-well dispute and financial challenges.

Etta urged members of the group, which he said comprises about 3,200 APC support groups across the state, to mobilise voters for Tinubu and Otu ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, Cross River has benefited from the Tinubu administration’s attention to issues affecting the state.

“We in Cross River have found a party and a man who has given us hope of actualising our oil well,” Etta said.

He urged the group to take its mobilisation campaign to communities across the state, expressing confidence that the initiative would strengthen the APC’s grassroots structure and improve the party’s electoral prospects in 2027.
