A woman in Kano, Hafsatu Yusuf, has given birth to quintuplets at the Murtala Specialist Hospital, Kano.

The rare delivery occurred on Wednesday, with the babies—three boys and two girls—arriving at about 2:00 p.m.

Husband of the mother, Malam Salisu Nafiu, confirmed the development, expressing gratitude for the successful delivery.

Nafiu, a tricycle rider, said both his wife and the five newborns are in stable condition.

He described the birth as a blessing, noting that it is his wife’s ninth delivery.

According to him, medical personnel at the hospital have continued to provide intensive care and monitoring to ensure the wellbeing of the mother and her babies.

Meanwhile, the Kano State Government has announced plans to take full responsibility for the medical care of the quintuplets and their mother.

Public Relations Officer of the State Ministry of Health, Nabilusi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa, said the intervention aligns with government efforts to strengthen maternal and child healthcare.

He added that the state remains committed to supporting vulnerable families and improving access to quality healthcare services across Kano.
