The Kano State Film Censorship Board has sealed a herbal medicine shop for allegedly using minors in an indecent advertisement promoting aphrodisiac products.

The board said the action followed multiple complaints over the advert, which reportedly featured inappropriate language and imagery involving children.

In a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, the board said the shop owner, popularly known as Nagwale, has been summoned to appear before it.

Chairman of the board, Alhaji Abba El-Mustapha, confirmed the closure, describing the offence as a breach of public decency and child protection laws.

The Director of Ethics, Alhaji Zakari Garun Babba, warned that involving children in such promotions is a serious violation that could attract stiff sanctions.

“Sellers must understand that the use of minors or indecent content in advertising is unacceptable and punishable,” he said.

The board disclosed that the suspect admitted wrongdoing and appealed for forgiveness from Kano residents.

As part of sanctions, he has been directed to issue written, audio and video apologies, to be kept on record.

The board reiterated its mandate to regulate herbal medicine advertising and vowed to sustain enforcement to protect public morality and shield children from exploitation.
