Chairman of the Cross River State Diaspora Commission (CRIDCOM), Dr Otu Okor, has said the newly created Cross Riverians in Diaspora Support Group (CRDSG) is designed to bring indigenes abroad closer to government.
Okor disclosed this at the inauguration of the group held at Cross River House, Asokoro, Abuja, noting that the platform will harness the skills and resources of Cross Riverians in the diaspora for the state’s development.
He described the initiative as a structured channel for collaboration, aimed at strengthening diaspora engagement and aligning contributions with government priorities.
The CRIDCOM chairman commended diaspora members for serving as worthy ambassadors of the state, while reaffirming government’s commitment to infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and the oil sector.
Stakeholders at the meeting lauded Governor Bassey Otu’s leadership and offered suggestions to deepen engagement.

Mr Tony Ray praised improvements in security and the oil sector, describing them as critical to the state’s growth.
Mr Ibiam Obongho expressed the diaspora community’s readiness to contribute actively to development efforts.
Mrs Francisca Ogar called for regular media engagements with the governor to enhance communication and information flow.
In his opening remarks, President of the Cross River Indigenes Development Association (CRIDA), Chief Dickson Sankara Unung, stressed unity and collective responsibility among Cross Riverians in Abuja.

The town hall ended with a vote of thanks by Hon Gabriel Odu, as participants reaffirmed commitment to supporting government initiatives and driving the state’s development.
